Potential location + Establishing shot

Our group went to look at an abandoned warehouse top see if it could be a potential filming location This abandoned building is going to be in the main part of our thriller opening.

These are the other abandoned warehouses we may do some filming in but there are some health and safety risks involved.

Looking around the warehouses planning where we are going to film and which parts of our thriller opening will be filmed in which parts.

This building will be quite useless as there are a lot of unsteady sheets of insulation that could potentially fall

Another one of the abandoned warehouses that we could potentially film i9n as it is empty and not as much of a risk as the others.

Key Director ; Alfred Hitchcock

Early Life:

Born on  August  in  Leytonstone England, Hitchcock was the second son and the youngest of three children of William Hitchcock , a greengrocer , and Emma Jane Hitchcock . Hitchcock was brought up as a Roman Catholic and was sent to Salesian College and the Jesuit Classic school St Ignatius' College in Stamford Hill, London.[His parents were both of half-English and half-Irish . He often described a lonely and sheltered childhood worsened by his obesity.

Around age five, according to Hitchcock, he was sent by his father to the local police station with a note asking the officer to lock him away for five minutes as punishment for behaving badly. This incident not only implanted a lifetime fear of policemen in Hitchcock, but such harsh treatment and wrongful accusations would be found frequently throughout his films.

When Hitchcock was , his father died. In the same year, he left St. Ignatius to study at the London County Council School of Engineering and Navigation in Poplar, London. After leaving, he became a draftsman and advertising designer with a cable company called Henley's. During the First World War, Hitchcock was rejected for military service because of his obesity. Nevertheless, the young man signed up to a cadet regiment of the Royal Engineers in . His military stint was limited: he received theoretical briefings, weekend drills and exercises. Textual Analysis : Se7en

The film, Seven, is a well known thriller starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. I have written an analysis on the camera angles used in the film and how they create effect and meaning.

The film starts with a Flash Cut watching a black and white picture with the title "Se7en"  in white appearing across the screen, the white contrasted with the dark background which created a great  sense of suspense and maybe dark happenings within the film. Throughout the whole opening sequence there is no establishing shot, which is usually used at the beginning of a scene to indicate the location or setting. This adds to the thriller aspect and differentiates from other films in the same category, as the audience has not been given any clues as to where the action is taking place. A shot  which is used  is an over-the-shoulder shot, otherwise known as a point of view shot, this allows the audience to look what is happening from the protagonists point of view. The most important camera range that is taking place during the opening sequence is a arguably the older-the-shoulder close up, which gives us a detailed insight into what is being prepared.

Our groups one page pitch and the plot of our thriller :  The Covernant
Tag-line: "Tears, fears, secrets and lies, all which are kept, but non shall survive.." (takes there secrets to the grave along with anyone who knows)

this is to show the audience its a mystery thriller or that it will most likely involve a group of people as the main antagonists and give a general hint of secrecy or conspiracies

Audience: Our target audience is over 15's to 40 preferably interested in dense plot lines, most likely of higher age end audience as the plot would be intended to be complex and of a mature nature however we want to include gore and an occult feel to it so our audience stays specific but not to focused on the one area of mystery. they would be into mystery conspiracy and horror novels and movie and would be fairly outgoing but mature the audience are still outgoing age so would be able to easily access to see the movie while at the same time are mature enough to enjoy the adult plot, additionally most of the UK’s population is aged to that same target audience range at roughly 40% of all age ranges in the UK according to my source such as Demography. It is mainly a male bias film as it involves themes such as gore and crime that most Men are interested by and few females. Write about life matrix

Reasons: my reasons for this audience were simply due to the genera i picked is easy to diverse into subgenera's and its category has usually a large but specific niche fan base an example of a current popular mystery is Harry potter and since its release there has been no other popular mystery's, this means all other genera's such as action or horror have more films developed in that area less so in mystery leaving a gap in current films and less competition in said area.

Protagonist: The idea of the protagonist is to relate and almost pity his situation this means as well as caring for him by pitying him the audience would feel as though they need to know what happens to him and connect this also relates to the interest and connections to the audience.

Interest and connection to audience:  By placing your average person in a completely outstanding and shocking situation the goal was to make him react how someone would scared and confused, making the thriller much more relatable and realistic I intend to also place scenes that don’t show what the antagonist sees to make the audience keep watching in order to see what he saw that terrified him so much.

Story:  the story is essentially about a school kid who hears about an abandoned warehouse after a while his interest peaks and he can't resist exploring the area for it, upon stumbling onto it he's immediately overcome and looks around before he discovers something a secret in one of the derelict graffited rooms that fills him with regret and fear and some mysterious figures noticed and they want the secret to die with him.

Visual realisation: after researching a few films there's 1 film in particular which had lighting that was extremely affective its called sanctum and although the contents are extremely different the shots are unique as they frequently used lights behind the actors to create silhouettes these give an eerie outline to the characters and builds suspense and I wish to apply this to my thriller. Additionally i wish to add vibrantly contrasting scenes in order to create contrast much like how barths narrative codes are used to make the audience feel a sense of good and evil with bright colours and black.

The cost of the thriller will be mainly from buss travel and props depending how many times we need to travel to our location to film.
